Jacqueline Hick

Born in Adelaide, Jacqueline Hick (1919-2004) studied in Adelaide, London and Paris. Her dramatic pictures of 'regional subjects' won wide acclaim from about 1950 and made her one of the leading painters working in this field. Jacqueline won several awards in the 1950s and 60s; her work is represented in all state and many regional and university galleries, and in London and USA.

Emus in Scrub Landscape is a classic oil on board by Jacqueline Hick, rich in colour and bold in execution. In addition, the reverse contains two detailed pastels by Hick, one depicting another of her classic themes - young females swimming - the other a small dog. Overall painted area measures 90 x 120 cms (each side). The sale price is $8,500.
