Dora Chapman

Dora Chapman was born in Mount Barker in 1911, and died in Adelaide in 1995. She was a painter, printmaker, teacher and critic. She studied at the SA School of Art from 1936 to 1941. After travel studies to London, France and Italy in the 1950s, she was a lecturer at the School from 1958 until 1969. Chapman was awarded the Melrose Prize in 1961. Her work is represented in the National Gallery of Australia, Canberra, the Art Gallery of South Australia, the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery, the Regional Gallery in Hamilton, Victoria, and university collections in Adelaide.
