George French Angas

George French Angas (1822-68) arrived in South Australia in 1844 where, as illustrator, painter and topographical artist, he joined Governor Grey on a number of expeditions. Angas published several volumes of his work, one of the most celebrated being his South Australia Illustrated in 1846.

For sale is a coloured lithograph measuring 47 x 31 cm from that series entitled Portraits of The Aboriginal Inhabitants, with its printed description attached to the reverse. It is for sale at $350.
