Lloyd Rees
Lloyd Rees was one of Australia's most competent and widely respected landscape painters. Preoccupied with depicting the effects of light, his works convey a serenity of the Australian landscape as he sought to express an ideal of harmony between man and nature. He demonstrated a mastery of painting in oils and watercolour, pencil, pen and ink, charcoal drawing and printmaking, and was twice winner of the Wynne Prize from the Art Gallery of New South Wales. Rees’s work is represented in the Australian National Gallery, Canberra; all State and many regional galleries; the Holmes a Court collection; and many private collections.
Lloyd Rees was included in the Australian Art Collector’s list of the 50 Most Collectable Artists in 2000, 2002, 2004 and 2005.
