Ivor Francis Ivor Pengelly Francis was born in Sussex, UK, and arrived in South Australia in 1924. He studied at the SA School of Art from 1929-39. He worked mainly in oils and became a pioneer of surrealism and semi-abstraction. He held many one-man shows in Sydney, Melbourne, Hobart and Adelaide, had major retrospective exhibitions in 1987 and 1988, and his work is represented in major galleries and collections in Australia and overseas. For sale is a 1964 oil on canvas entitled Moonlight, Crafers. Measuring 68.5 x 48 cms, the painting is signed and dated, and priced at $3,000.
